I would like to have text like "attacca" displayed at the end of a movement (right-justified) in all parts. The next movement begins on a new system. If I attach the text to the last measure of the movement and that measure is at the end of a multimeasure rest, the text is not displayed. In the past I've resorted to attaching it individually to the first measure of the multimeasure rest, but of course that's tedious and error-prone. Is there a better way?

(I've thought of adding a mmr-breaking measure at the end for the expression, making it zero width, blank, etc., but I've got lots of measure regions set up, and it's subject to the vagaries of accidental music spacing.)

I too would like to know the easy answer to this…

I don't know of a really correct way of doing this, either, but the following works. If it's just a matter of having 'attacca' appear at the end of a MM rest, you should attach it to the first measure of the MM rest. Assuming that you've set the expression to be right-justified and aligned to the right barline, you can do this before or after creating the MM rest. In the score it will appear exactly where you put it, i.e. at the end of the first measure rest, so you'll have to hide it there, but in the part it will appear at the end of the MM rest and, in your case, at the end of the system. Interestingly, if you've already created the MM rest and you click-assign the expression, it will attach itself to the end of the first measure of the part but still appear where you want it.

Thanks. As I posted above, that's what I do, but it's error-prone and tedious. Curiously, if I try to do it from the score, it doesn't always appear in the right place. It seems it must be done from the part.

There's a workaround: for the movement's last bar, create and use a new barline. Duplicate an existing barline, edit it (shape designer will pop up) and add the word "attacca" above it.

Two issues with this method: the barline's calculated width is now much bigger and the multimeasure rest ends before the "attacca". Secondly, in a score above a staff group, the "attacca" gets placed very high, I don't know why.

But maybe these two issues are of no significance for your score, so if that's the case, it might be the way to go.

Thanks for the suggestion. I ended up adding additional expressions where needed, and which is only a slight hassle and not as error prone as I opined before.
