Not sure how to describe this without being too verbose.
I have a piece in four parts: guitar, alto sax, trumpet, and trombone.
I neatly used "Utilities / Fit Measures" to make four measures per line.
Printed it all just fine.
So far, so good.
I wanted to print just the guitar part. Easy, right?
Ctrl-p, uncheck score, check guitar, OK
What came out was indeed just the guitar part but with 5 measures on the top line,6 on the second, and 1 lo-o-ong one on the third.
In some of the measures the notes were all cramped with lyrics squished together.
How can I print just the guitar part while maintaining four measures per line?
I have Finale version 25.5.0.290

Parts are formatted separately from the score.

OK. Thank you.Bill Stevens wrote:Parts are formatted separately from the score.

Even though the score was formatted correctly, I selected "Staff" and clicked the guitar part. I then repeated the "Utilities / Fit Measures " thing.
No apparent difference to the score but when I printed just the guitar part as described above, lo and behold, it printed fine.
I have "All" checked under "Print Range" but it did not print page 1 which I have set up as blank page containing just a text box with title, composer, filename information. This prints OK with "Score" but not with the Guitar part.
Or is there a better way to add a title page?

I certainly wouldn't want Finale to add blank pages to parts automatically. If, however, you want title pages, you only have to create the text boxes in the score. Blank pages added to the parts will retain these texts. Same with formatting: I often need different spacing algorithms for different parts. Just in case: make sure you have your Preferences/Edit/Automatic Settings set to Reflow Measures Across Systems (Maintain System Locks) and Automatic Update Layout turned on.

Even if you go into Manage Parts and set everything Finale always does what it wants to. Usually very little to what you wanted. I just hope it comes close and I edit each and every part manually. How can I print just the guitar part while maintaining four measures per line?
I sent a couple samples to MM sometime ago and the response I got from them was, "Hmm, that's curious."

There has been some previous discussion about things changing, usually when printing. Someone had mentioned "Update Multimeasure Rests" as a possible culprit. It likely is triggering something bad, even if no MM rests are present. It might be worth bearing this in mind for troubleshooting. When a score is complete, just turn the feature off, you shouldn't need it anyway (Document Options > Multimeasure Rests > Update—uncheck the box).ebiggs1 wrote:Even if you go into Manage Parts and set everything Finale always does what it wants to. Thanx, I will remember and try that. It is more response than I got from MM.(Document Options > Multimeasure Rests > Update—uncheck the box).
