Finicky Triplet Tool

Finale 26 - Windows 10.

I'm doing battle with the triplet tool. I'm working on regular manuscript with guitar TAB (I work in notation and drag down to create TAB) in the second voice and want to start an eighth note triplet with an eighth note rest and Finale changes the triplet to standard eighth notes when I try. I tried creating a three note triplet and replacing the first with a rest - and Finale changes it from triplets to regular eighth notes.

How can I get a triplet starting with a rest?

That doesn't happen for me. Are you using Speedy or Simple? (I used Speedy.)

And are you creating the triplet in the notation staff or the tab staff?

Seems to work with Simple, as well, unless I misunderstand something. Can you post a screenshot? Also, can you tell us how you are creating the triplet?

I have been using simple note entry...but I didn't have issues when I tried speedy entry. Hmmm..looks like I'll be changing my method. I have had problems with triplets for a long time. Sometimes when adding an extra stacked note to a triplet note, it switches off the triplet mode.

In the Simple Entry Tool, when adding an extra stacked note, what input method are you using?
- Keyboard? - Mouse?

By The Way:
In the Speedy Entry Tool you can add an extra, stacked notehead by hitting the Enter key.
The extra, stacked notehead will be added at the crosshair position.

I only use Speedy since I learned Finale before Simple and indoor plumbing were invented -- except for the stacking you wrote about. Perhaps you know this, but if a note is selected you can type a number to add a note; for instance, type a 3 to get a note a third above, or shift-3 for a third below.

New Problem with Triplets. I will attach an image to illustrate the problem.

I'm having some issues with triplet brackets on the guitar TAB line. See the attached image. I entered the notes in musical notation and dragged down to create the TAB.

How can I clean up the mess with the triplet brackets and "3"? If I can't create diagonal brackets for the TAB notes, is there a way to delete the brackets and "3" from the TAB altogether?

I just upgraded from v.2014.5. I see that the Finale crew still hasn't fixed any of the issues with guitar TAB, the open G chord that moves open strings to fretted notes. When I first started Finale in 2007, I contacted tech support and used to issue fix requests but realized a few years later that I was screaming at deaf ears!

To delete the triplets -- In the Score Manager for the tab staff, beside where Tablature is marked as notation style there is a button for Settings. Click that and uncheck "Show Triplets".
