Hi all,
In my bar of piano music, I would like the piano pedal lift on the 5th beat. I have a crotchet rest in the Piano RH which could serve to accurately indicate the position of the pedal lift. Should I also use these rests in the LH as it is closer to the pedal lift indication?
Interested in your thoughts...
Thanks,
HP.

you could place the rest in the top staff but pull it down "visually" so that it is below the bottom staff, if you want to use a whole note rest in the left hand staff.

Hector, the way you have it is the way it is normally handled. If you want the pedal to release on a rest, the pedal release appears below the grand staff directly below the rest. The rest can be in either hand or both. (See Beethoven Piano Sonata op. 57 third movement measure 5 and other measures later.) During the 19th century the pedal mark and release often appears between the two staves of the grand staff, but that is almost obsolete now.
