In the attached file the pages are uneven in length. (The eventual size
should be A4 or A3.) I tried to fix the length using Page Layout/redefine pages (all)
but what happens is after page 3 it inserts a blank page and then one more
page with the last 4 measures of the music. Suggestions? Thanks.

I did that just now. The pages are now uneven lengths - see attached.

Is the attached what you want? I redefined all pages and deleted the blank page (page 4).
The page size is A4 - A3 is not suitable for parts, it's too big. Why are you using these European page sizes? Do you live there or are you doing this music for someone there?

The page lengths are good, thank you. But the page turn from 3 to 4 is not because it's too quick for the player. That's why I put the music on pages 2 and 3, so no page turn needed. Page 4 is blank, which apparently the orchestra librarian would like (for separating from other instruments). Here is one source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPY7lcH3ZtY. Now - I'm not an expert on this - but the sources I've read are telling me that A4 (or A3) are best. And one of the Finale forum team members advised me to use "score" for the page format, not "part." Even though I am creating parts. I am in California, I'm just trying to create score and parts that will make the orch. librarian happy. In the past I pissed off the librarian because I didn't pay close enough attention to these details. So, anyway, I'm trying to get the attached part on pages 2 and 3 with a blank 4th page, with even length pages. Sorry to be so long-winded here.

The attached file has the quick page turn fixed.
What happens when they try to print the odd size A4 on a printer that has only letter size paper?

Thank you! Looks great - can you tell me how you did it, so that I can fix it on my own next time? To answer your question, I simply don't know the answer. Sorry.

Hi musicus,
Check measure 93.. there is a courtesy accidental behind the half note... it appears to have been moved with the special tools tool...? Not sure why it has parentheses or is behind the note it is attached to. Is that note supposed to be an A-Flat?
Also - after opening your posted file, a stray "arco" text block appears on page 4. You entered that item with the text tool rather than the expression tool. You should always use the Expression tool for these items. Text tool items will not be aligned with your music - it will remain on the page where you originally placed it. Using the Expression tool links the item with the note/beat and will remain aligned with the music as you edit your layout.
To have less re-entering of title page text items, use the file info dialog box (command-K) and enter those items there. Then use inserts in your title page(s) text blocks. If you use the setup wizard to create a new document, just fill in the fields as you work through the wizard.
Good luck with your project!

I appreciate that. Regarding the courtesy accidental, what I meant to indicate is that the trill goes from A to Bb, not A to B natural. Is there a better way to indicate such?

The A and B sizes are perhaps better described as international (ISO) rather than as exclusively European. Parts can be printed to B4 (a size between A4 and A3) but not normally to A3.
FWIW Japanese B4 is marginally larger than international B4 because it is calculated as having 1.5 times the area of A4 rather than square root 2 (1.4142) times the A area. I became aware of this because the Scottish Music Centre uses Japanese made printers. They order B4 paper in bulk from their supplier to suit. All the A and B sizes, whether ISO or JIS (Japanese), have the identical proportions. This is very useful if (say) printing full scores to one size and study scores to a smaller one. It should also make it *relatively* easy to print wind and brass parts to A4 but shared string parts and percussion scores to B4 from the same Finale file.
