I'm using Finale 2012 on a Mac under OS 10.7 (Lion). I seem to be unable to adjust the top margin of any system. I can indent both right and left, and I can adjust the bottom margin. But no matter how much I try to adjust the top margin (using both the corner box to drag as well as the "Page Layout --> Systems --> Edit Margins" box), it will not let me reduce the amount past a certain point. I can make the top margin for any given system less than about one inch. Additionally, I can't seem to select either Lock Systems or Unlock Systems from the menu -- they are both always greyed out. Thank you!

Welcome to the forum!

My guess is that you want to adjust the staff spacing.
More specifically I think that you will want to adjust the Top Staff Position.

Try this (just some ideas):

1) Staff Tool.
Switch to Scroll View.

2) Staff menu > Respace Staves…
Adjust the Top Staff Position.
Click OK.

You may want to repeat step 2) until you are satisfied with the staff spacing in Scroll View (also the spacing for the other staves).

3) Switch to Page View.

4) Staff menu > Respace Staves…
You may want to change the staff spacing to Scroll View Spacing.
