I work with a lot of chant-like music where many words are recited on a single tone. I'm using Finale 2009b on Windows XP. Having to type alt+0160 after each word slows me down considerably! Is there a way in Finale to assign alt codes to a single keystroke? I would gladly give up, say, the right hand windows button on my keyboard.

Thanks,
Storm Knien

Welcome to the forum!

It sounds like the utility AllChars could be of some use for you.

If you'd rather go the hardware route, I heartily endorse the Genovation 24-key Control Pad 683. Besides that, on a lark, I recently acquired Logitech's G110 keyboard, which also has dedicated programmable keys.

AllChars did the trick! I may consider another keyboard in the future. Thanks for the tips.

AllChars is a beautiful thing. When I used Windows, I wouldn't have been without it.

You can also use Ctrl+C to copy the [Alt+0160] and use Ctrl+V to insert it. That's what I did many times...
