greetings,

When i write in Ab major there is no problem... However i want to continue writing in f minor in same piece but finale automatically adds four naturals and four flats again. is it possible to hide it?

Thank you!!!

Try this:

Document Options - Key Signatures
De-select the option “Redisplay Key Signature If Only Mode I Changing”.

This raises a question that I confess I don't know the answer to. How does the difference between Ab major and F minor manifest itself? Notes are notes, chords are chords, so neither of those. What changes by setting up one or the other? After 20 years, am I about to learn something that will accelerate my workflow?

You are right.
Normally you can just as well keep everything in A♭ major.
The only difference I can find, appears when you select a Chord Style like Roman or Nashville where the chord roots are numbers.

In A♭ major a chord root of 1 (or I in the Roman style) means A♭, and a chord root of 6 (or VI in the Roman style) means F.

In F minor a chord root of 1 (or I in the Roman style) means F, and a chord root of 3 (or III in the Roman style) means A♭.

And also sometimes when you use speedy entry with midi keyboard Finale decides the name to note itself. For example when you write in C Major and play "Ab" finale writes "Ab" but if you indicate you write in a minor finale transcribes it as a "G sharp"...

This is something you can control via Spelling Tables.
You do not have to use the default spelling tables for major and minor.
