Does anyone know of a way to make the square rehearsal marking enclosures have rounded corners?

Unfortunately there is not an option for rounded corners in Finale’s Enclosure Designer.

As a workaround you can
a) remove the real enclosure (=select “None”),
b) put character #123 from the font Finale Copyist Text (or Broadway Copyist Text or JazzText) before the rehearsal mark, and put character #125 from Finale Copyist Text (or Broadway Copyist Text or JazzText) after the rehearsal mark.

This is not exactly “square enclosure with rounded corners”, but definitely “rounded corners”.

Thanks Peter but it didn't work for me. All I got back was:
original rehearsal marking was 5, when adding #123 before and #125 afterwards I got:

#123 5 #125

not sure what I'm doing wrong. I tried with Broadway Copyist Text or JazzText - results the same.

To enter character number 123, do not type ‘#123’, but rather hold down the Alt key, and type the character’s number on the NumPad keys.

I am not a Windows user, but I think that you should add a zero before the first digit, so that you type 4 digits:
(Hold down Alt while typing) 0123 on the NumPad.

If you can not make this work, try instead
Text menu > Inserts > Symbol…
Finale will display the window Symbol Selection where you can see all the font characters, ordered by number.

FYI:
In text fonts (like e. g. Times New Roman and Arial) the character #123 is { (= left curly brace).
And the character #125 is } (= right curly brace).

I'm trying to create rehearsal marking enclosures in the handwritten jazz style, while the text inside uses Times New Roman font.

With the instructions above, I am able to create the outside brackets in the jazz style, but the bottom and top lines don't extend to contain the text in a different font. Using the JazzText font, I'm able to extend the top and bottom lines by including "|" (shift+forward slash) after each letter/character, but that does not work using other text fonts, such as Times New Roman.

Any solutions for extending the enclosure shape while using Times New Roman font for the text inside?

For the enclosures I used JazzText 17.

For the rehearsal letters I used Times New Roman 14, bold style.
To get the letters at an acceptable vertical position relative to the enclosure I used Superscript, at 2.25pt.
