I have several hidden staves on the first page of a score, so I would like the names of the hidden instruments to appear in full when they eventually start playing later in the piece. How can I get the full names to appear on certain staves while the other instruments have abbreviated names?

I would enter the names as text, in those places.

That's what I'd thought of doing, Miker, but the problem is that I have to hide the abbreviated name to insert the full name as text, which means that the abbreviated name is then hidden for all the following staves.

Create staff styles where the abbreviation for the staff is the whole name of the instrument (you will have to do it for each instrument).

Thanks, Peter. Could you explain how to do this? I've just tried defining a staff style but my style has no effect when applied!!
