When I am working on a some measurers (Page view) and I zoom to 200% the page appears is another different. Also happens when I change the view from 200% to 100%. Mamma mia! I feel nearly dizzy looking always for the measures.
Is the a way under Preferences to see always the meausures I am woring on, independently of the zoom I apply?
I appreciate your always valuable help and time.

If you use the Select Tool to select (highlight in blue) the measure(s) you are working on, it(they) will remain selected and highlighted in blue, when you zoom in/out. It may not be on the screen if zoomed in too high, but searching for it(them) will be somewhat easier, since it(they) will be highlighted in blue. Not exactly what you want, but I think that is the best you can do.

Thank you, Charles,
It's a good idea

Not exactly what you are asking for, but this might be good if you did not already know it.
In the selection tool, press and hold shift, press and hold right mouse button, drag to make a marquee of your choice, release all to zoom to marquee. I use it all the time.

Nice tip, Harpsi. I had forgotten about that way to zoom in. Thanks for refreshing my memory.

Many drafting programs have a zoom command with the same icon of a magnifying glass, although the function is different. Using this tool to drag around a section of your drawing enlarges and centers the scribed area on the screen.
Maybe this would be a helpful tool for Finale, as well, or perhaps the existing zoom tool could be modified so that the zoom would be centered wherever you placed the tool.

Mike,
I think that is what Harpsi was saying with his tip. As it turns out, SHIFT hold right mouse button will temporarily enable the Zoom Tool where you can drag a marque around a portion of your document and release to enlarge and center the enclosed area to fit the screen. Harpsi said to use the Select Tool, but this works no matter what tool is selected. BTW: CTRL-SHIFT hold right mouse button reduces the enclosed area.
Replace CTRL with COMMAND on the Mac.

I realized the other day that Finale always has a vertical scroll bar no matter how far out you're zoomed and whether there's anything to scroll to or not. I wish it worked like other programs.

Charles, this may be a Windows/Mac issue.
On a Mac, CMD+SHIFT+Click will zoom in. But, IN PAGE VIEW ONLY, Zoom Tool>Click/hold/drag> will, in fact, zoom and enlarge the selected area.
Nice tip, thanks!

Even in Windows, (CTRL-)SHIFT right click hold and drag a marque, only seems to work in page view. In scroll view you cannot drag a marque. As soon as you SHIFT right click, it zooms in. With CTRL-SHIFT right click, it immediately zooms out.miker wrote:Charles, this may be a Windows/Mac issue.

I did not know it operated differently depending on which view you were in. It has to be a right-click though, no matter what view.

On a Mac, Alt+SHIFT+Click will zoom out. A "left" click.

I never use the above mentioned zoom methods. I press the scroll wheel to zoom in, and ctrl-scroll wheel to zoom out. Hold scroll wheel and drag to select area.

That's good to know, thanks! Was not aware of those. But ctrl-scroll wheel must be something you programmed, that is not native to Finale, is it? I use that too, but as a AHK-macro.I never use the above mentioned zoom methods. I press the scroll wheel to zoom in, and ctrl-scroll wheel to zoom out. Hold scroll wheel and drag to select area.

Do you mean CTRL + press scroll wheel of the mouse? I don't understand "press", as the wheel rolls up and downzuill wrote:I never use the above mentioned zoom methods. I press the scroll wheel to zoom in, and ctrl-scroll wheel to zoom out. Hold scroll wheel and drag to select area.

Many mice have the ability to press the wheel for Functionality. Both of mine do. Maybe yours doesn't.

Wow. I couldn't survive without out it. In the pictures I see of mice for Apple, what does the wheel do that I am seeing?
Zuill
P.S.: Looking in the online documentation, it says scroll wheel support was added to the Mac version in Finale 2007. If there is no scroll wheel, what does that mean? Now I am quite curious.

SHIFT right click gives the same result as PRESS scroll wheel. It temporarily switches to the Zoom Tool and zooms in one level. It does not work in Scroll view.
EDIT: The word "It" was not the proper pronoun to use in this case. To be clear I have corrected my mistake below.
However, dragging a marque around an area to zoom and center does not work in scroll view, only page view.

I get the same behavior in Scroll View and Page View. Shift-Right Click same as Scroll Wheel Click. Ctrl-Shift Right Click same as Ctrl-Scroll Wheel Click.

I was not clear enough. Did you read the whole thread? The issue was discussed above. You cannot draw a marque around a portion of your document in order to zoom in and center the enclosed area on the screen unless you are in Page View.
