I've set Finale to open documents in scroll view. But when I open a document, the instrument names are cut off. As I recall, this was a bug that was fixed in one of Finale's recent previous iterations. Is this bug back now?

When I toggle the document to page view and then back to scroll view, the full instrument names are visible.

It looks like the Simple Entry palette is covering the names. Try moving it to the bottom.

Otherwise, you can adjust the window to get the names into view with the hand grabber tool or by holding down the right mouse button (anywhere not in a staff) and dragging.

I want the opposite--to not waste space with the names. But it should be customizable so that when you open a new document it does what you want.

Yeah, that works. I've just recently started working initially in scroll view. I used to work mainly in page view. So did I miss something? Is this a bug that's been reintroduced?

Again, you've got the simple entry palette in the way. Move that and maybe it will be ok.

I am curious where the setting is to open documents in scroll view. All I see is an option to open new documents in scroll view.

It's New Document Windows. Any document that is opened has a new window.

Even with the pallets moved the initial display cuts off the names.

Ah. Arthur is right that if you switch to Page View and back there's more room, and it does seem to take the staff names into account (I tried it with "Antidisestablishmentarianism").

Preferences/New/New Document Windows. The "new" evidently refers to the window, not the document, though the other stuff on that page refers to a new document.

Perhaps for Arthur the best thing would be to open in Page View and get in the habit of immediately typing Ctrl-E to switch to Scroll View.

That's exactly what I was doing. I ran into the problem after I set the new document window in preferences to open in scroll view. I thought I'd save the Ctrl-E step. I guess not.

I've noticed that instrument names generally don't show in full in Scroll View. What I use to do is to right-click-drag the page a bit to the right with the mouse (Windows). I don't know of a setting for this though.
