I want to make a giant arpeggio chord cross stafffor the harp.

I am plotting the chord in the botttom staff before using the cross staff plug-in,
but finale only lets me have 12 tones in a staff and no more, so I cant complete the chord.

How do I extend this limit ?

Is it a measured arpeggio? Do you have enough beats in the measure?

It would help us to see whay you’re trying to do. However, you won’t be able to post attachments until you have a few posts to your credit.

You might have to notate it as a tuplet. For example, 20 sixteenths in the space of 12 sixteenths, or whatever is required.

12 notes stacked in a chord is the limit, as I recall. What to advise depends on what needs to be done. One can have some notes in the other staff and then cross staff one or a few from the other staff to make a connected stem. Otherwise, a more complicated approach using Layers or Voices might be in order.

I think this could be tha way to go but its very time consuming.
I think in this situation I will for a Normal arpeggio upward arrow to simplify . And just write arpeggio fast to slow .

I was just surprised that one could not have a bigger chord and if there was a preference setting for this I have not noticed .

Thank you
Nikolai :-)

Is cross-staff needed? Perhaps I'm misunderstanding. Seems like with a grand staff, you can have 24 notes. It was very easy to line up the two stems with this:

Hello

I tried to make an example for you now . If you want to grade the arpeggio speed in ad lib with a fan notation like in my example and you want it to go on upwards like I do you can see the last notes in the arpeggio is past the 12 limit since all the notes from c is crossing the staff to be part of this gracenote scheme .
I dont know . But its simpler and takes less space just to write Arp. fast to slow in this case I guess .

Anyway in this case its better just to use the top staff and place the rest of the missing notes in the chord and adjust the ties manually

All the best

Ah. You said "chord," but the arpeggio is not a chord in the Finale sense. You could use cross-staff for the arpeggio but then write the whole notes on two staves. I haven't put in the ties, but it's possible, if tedious.

You are right ! I thought about that solution when I tried making this example above, but tedious like you say . Depending on the situation maybe . Simpler make a fast , line with arrow, to slow Like this:
