Hello,
When I save my score on PDF, it appears like this (Cat is the name of the score): Cat - Score.pdf
I didn't enter the word "Score", it appears each time automatically, I delete it each time.
How to change this ?

[I do it the same way. Never caused me a problem.]

Ignore that. I just tested this and I don't get that behavior. I use Windows, so maybe this is a Mac thing.

Rather than saving as PDF through the Print dialogue, try exporting as PDF via the graphics tool.

How do you save your score on PDF?
From your description it is my guess that you are “printing” to PDF, via the Mac OS X Print dialog.

Instead, use the Graphics Tool, to export the pages as PDF.
Creating PDF this way is (a little) faster, you get a true Black&White PDF file, and the file size is small because Finale only embeds the fonts once for the entire file.

And you will not get the word “Score” in the file name.

Thanks Peter and Miker, it's ok now !
I saved always with Print/Save as PDF, and I was not satisfied, because the bottom of the page is not as I see it in Finale. Now saving by the Graphics Tool (that I never used, and don't know what is for), I don't have anymore this problem.

I'm on Windows, but on my system, the word "Score" comes from the Score manager - File Info Tab - lower left corner "Score Name" Insert Text. What is entered into this field counts as a name for the whole score, much like the staff names for individual parts. When printing, Finale sends the print document's name to the printer driver. A real printer doesn't care about that and simply prints the document's contents. A virtual printer instead, producing PDFs, uses the received document name as a file name for saving. I use "Partitur" normally in that field and get it in my PDF file names using PDFcreator.
I assume it works very comparable on the Mac.

Thank you Haralds.

I deleted the word "Score" in the field "Score Name Insert Text", and left it empty.
I did Print/Save as PDF, and I have: "Cat - Part 0".pdf"
If I insert the score name, I have: "Cat - Cat.pdf"

I tried with another score, and for the first time it was ok (without the word Score), but I don't know why.... may be because I began to write this score in my ancient version of Allegro 2007...

It doesn't matter, I will not loose time with this question.

Auf wiedersehen

I don't know if that was introduced in 2012 or 2014 (I skipped 2012) but it was after 2011. In 2014, however, the Print dialog was unchanged from previous versions so print to pdf behaved about the same as export to pdf via the Graphics tool. That changed with Finale 25 for Mac as you can see.

I understand that Windows users see the print options differently but I'm not about to use one of my authorizations on a Win 7 laptop that I never use. I'll just take everyone's word for it.

When I printed a PDF saved with the Graphics Tool, I was surprised to see that the page was reduced on a 10/15 %.

So I will continue doing as before: Print/Save as PDF.

That is a surprise. A .pdf exported from the Graphics tool can be printed any size on any printer up to where the saved dpi looks bad.

Check your document settings and margins etc. Your print settings are adding an additional margin. This is easily changed but you may have to find the right settings in your print driver or Preview to do this.

If you use a Brother or HP printer, I may know where to look.
