I have Finale 25 installed on both my iMac and my MacBook Pro. Certain files make the MacBook Pro version crash on any kind of input but they are fine on the iMac version of Finale.
Any thoughts as to why some files crash instantly and others are fine?

Welcome to the forum!

Do you have the same Mac OS X version installed on both machines?

If the answer to Peter's question is yes and the OS is not too old, I would trash the Finale preferences on the machine that's malfunctioning:

Trashing the prefs didn't work. Maybe a reinstallation is the way to go?

Download the latest build and reinstall. No idea exactly which version you are running but there have been a few updates in recent months. Make certain to also run the included Garritan installer so that the paths are established correctly.
