I am on a Mac using Finale25. This attached photo is what I want to do. Can anyone help me with the process to define this so I can expand on it?

This looks more like Layout, not mapping. Which sound are you using? It looks like Marching percussion, but knowing the sound being used is the starting point. RowLoff or Garritan marching? Or something else?

P.S.: I can't find any of the included sound maps with exactly those MIDI numbers. You are probably using something else. You can customize maps, but I'm not sure what to suggest until we know what sound set you're using. Or, use one of the included ones, but the MIDI numbers are different, if that works for you.

So I want to create a custom percussion midi input/output map with the layout described in the picture. All specific information is in the picture. The individual sounds should be borrowed from the Garritan Instruments for Finale Tapspace Snareline patch.

Even though the Finale Instruments for Finale maps say they have all the sounds, they don't. You probably will have to buy a paid version to get what you want. The Section rim Shots and the Section Rims are both assigned to channel 75. Only one of them actually sounds.

The matter of MIDI note number assignments is something I can't test at the moment as I don't have a MIDI keyboard set up. In the VDLite Snareline, the MIDI numbers for your 4 instruments are 80, 75, 75 and 88. I guess you want to press 48 and get 80, 50 and get 75, 52 and get 75, and 53 and get 88. I suppose that can be done. The only way might to create custom notes for each of the 4 sounds. Just choosing the name and assigning the new MIDI numbers might not do it.
