Help! For the life of me I can't figure out how to make a chord has a 6/9. For example, C6/9 or D6/9.
Finale keeps changing the chord to something like C6/G. How do I make a simple C6/9?

In the Chord Tool, click on Suffix, then Create.
You can move things around to get exactly the look you want.

The suffix 69 is in the chord suffix libraries that come with Finale.

See the attached Finale document where I have shown the 69 suffix from a few of the Finale libraries.

Doesn't work. When I copied and pasted the F6/9 from the file posted and pasted it onto my document it automatically transformed it to F6/C.

Why does this happen?

I have extracted and saved a library only containing Peter's suffixes. Load it and try again.

The thing to remember is that you need to select these manually from the library. If you type 6/9, Finale interprets the / character as creating an alternate bass.

There's no reason to use the / Symbol for a 69 chord.
Then you Can type it in, rather than select from the Suffix Library.
Maybe the OP was copying and pasting.
But you can create a 6/9 chord in the Suffix Library, and most likely be able to type it in once it's In the Library.
Typing in 6/9, with out it first being created in the Library won't work. produces the Slash Chord, as you said.

Even when it is in the Library, typing the / creates an alternate bass.

And once you know where it is in the particular library you are using, you can enter it by typing root-colon-number.

For example, C:4

Thanks for all the input. It seems like the easiest and least frustrating thing to do is to just bypass doing this in chords and to just type in the particular symbol and drag it into position.
