Thought I'd put a plug in here in case any of you use the East/West libraries with Finale. EastWest recently updated their Play software. Unfortunately, if you do the update, the play_VST_x64.dll in your family VST folder is still going to be the older version, which makes the libraries completely unusable. You have to copy the newer play_VST_x64.dll into your VST folder. Find where that is located and copy it into Windows/Users/(Your Name)/AppData/Roaming/MakeMusic/Finale/VSTSupport. Hope this helps anyone who uses EastWest libraries.

Hi Gary,
I just recently updated to Play 6 and the new Spaces II from East West, however I can't seem to either remove the old Play.dll (it keeps reappearing in the folder somehow) nor can I make active the new .dlls for both. I get an "unable to validate..." error message for each. This is in Finale 2012, and up until now I haven't had any issues with using East West in Finale. Can you help?

Play 6 is 64bit only and won't work in Fin2012.
Instead of copying the Play dll, you should add the path to where it is installed. I don't think the documentation was ever updated to say this.

Hi Travis!
What Bill said I think is correct, but I haven't updated to the latest Play version. They used to allow you to install a 32-bit version, but I haven't done any of that just because so many times when I've updated Play, something doesn't always work right and right now I can't afford to have Play mess up for me and Finale. In any case, do check to see if there is a 32-bit version or contact EastWest support. They're generally pretty helpful.
