I don't want the anacrusis counted in the numbering as I follow the old convention of placing the second part of the split measure at the end. I made a note of the steps I used previously to change measure numbering (see below), but neither option now works for me. Is there yet a third option that I could try?

OPTION 1
1. Measure tool (upper icon menu) -> double-click in the measure.
2. Uncheck "Include in measure numbering" -> OK.

OPTION 2
1. Measure tool (upper toolbar) -> Measure (upper text menu) -> Edit Measure Number Regions.
2. In "Starting Number" box, type "2." Leave "1" in "Includes Measure" box above -> OK.

Those should both work.

In another thread, I mentioned that the file you posted might be corrupt. Saying that neither of these methods seems to work as another indication something is corrupting things with the program. Have you deleted the preferences files and recreated them?

You should put "1" in the "Starting Number" box, and "2" in the "Includes Measure" box, not the other way round. Does that help?

All that I have ever done, is to use the Measure Attributes dialog, and uncheck Include in Measure Numbering. It's always worked. No need to adjust Measure Numbering start box. I only use that when I have multiple measure number regions.

I'm grateful for the suggestions, but none of them worked for me. But I did manage to find a workaround: I created a new document, wherein all of the options for excluding the anacrusis from the measure numbering work. I only had to rewrite the notation in the first stave, after which I copied the remainder of the score from the corrupted file into the new, working in a horizontally tiled window. Sigh!
