Hi all,

I need to add a caesura (//) at the end of a movement for every instrument. I plan to affix them just before the double bar line. Should I use the articulation tool to place them all and then try to align them all? Also, the bars are different for each instrument so what can I attach them to? Some last bars have only the default rest.

Cheers,
Hector.

I would use an expression instead of an articulation. You can place it relative to the right barline with an offset of your choice.

Thanks, motet. I might have to make the expression as I don't see one on the palette.

Cheers,
Hector.

Hector,
You can find the character in the Maestro font, slot # 34. Or, enter a quotation mark (") and change the font to Maestro.

Is it possible to change the duration of the Caesura, i.e. railroad tracks?

When playing back a piece the tempo at the caesura doesn't change. I'm wanting to create a sudden
break in the music. Maybe a fermata is a better option.

At any rate, help will be appreciated.

Do you mean an expression like rit. instead of a caesura? Did you have
a specific expression in mind?

For playback I opted for a fermata with a rest to the right. I've experimented with extra
measures or different time signatures with rests to get the effect I've wanted but I need to
remember to remove them for performance.

This is really for playback. In the real world, i.e. musicians reading from paper, the Caesura
will work fine.

No, I meant a // symbol as an expression rather than an articulation in Finale jargon.
