I'm in the middle of making parts of an arrangement of Carmen and I encountered an error that Finale was unable to create cue notes because 'It's possible that you have reached Finale's maximum number of measures with notes.' Here's the file maintenance dialog. Can this be possible? If so, I have a problem I'm not sure how to solve. Suggestions welcome! BTW, why is the number of frames a negative number?

Finale has a maximum number of frames available. You've reached the limit.

Max frames is 32767, the largest number that can be stored as a signed 16-bit number. Finale is still a 16-but application in some ways.

You have 32764 active frames, which is just 3 frames short of the maximum possible number of active frames in Finale. Ouch...
You have "-30841" frame assignments. (I guess that "frame assignments" means the sum total of both active and empty frames).
In the 16-bit binary realm, the (signed 16-bit) number -30841 equals the (unsigned 16-bit) number 34695, so you probably actually have 34695 frame assignments.
To continue working, your only solution might be to split up the file into two smaller files.
Or maybe create (some of) the parts using another copy of the score, where you could delete a sufficient number of frames (frames that are not necessary to create the parts in question) in order to stay under the number 32767.

I'm reminded of Bill Gates' '640 Kb should be enough for anyone.' This is ridiculous. Since I've checked the score and I don't trust Finale to treat it kindly as I format parts (often I find the spacing of the score completely screwed up after formatting parts), I ended up duplicating the score so I have one only for parts, thereby removing all the vocal lines, except for those I need for cues. This should give me enough empty frames to complete the task. Now I hope that the maker of my car won't inform me now that I've driven more than 350,000 km. with it, that I'll have to get used to starting the engine by using a crank.

an arrangement of Carmen
Is it a one-act or have you already broken it up into acts and this is the limit that one of them has given you?

Weird that, after all of this promise of 64 bit and the years of delay, that is still there.

It has been shortened so I put all four acts into one file, not thinking that I could reach the maximum that quickly.
