Does Finale's autosave share same extension as Photoshop?

The past few days I have been getting a message every time that I start Finale stating, "Extension .asv is already registered as 'Photoshop.ASVColAdjFil.e'. Do you want to register this file type with Finale as 'FinaleAutoSave' instead?" Is there a conflict over this extension/file type between the two programs? I find it odd this only recently started happening.

If there is it doesn't seem like a big deal. Hopefully you'll rarely need to open ASV files, and when you do, you can do it within Finale instead of from Windows Explorer.

If you didn't just install Photoshop, it does seem odd that you're just starting to see this message.

Photoshop had done an update, so that may have caused it.

I don't suspect it should be an issue, from a recovery perspective, as my system makes duplicates of every file and does some backup consolidation for me.

I was just curious that they would share an extension like that. Thanks for the comment.

Where the .asv file is useful is when the program crashes without your having done a save. Your system is not going to save you there. Finale should automatically load that file when it's restarted.
