Creating pdf uses the name of another file

I have reported this strange behavior to MM, and they acknowledged it is "a known issue" :
I open 2 Finale files (Finale 25.5), A.musx and B.musx.
A is the front/active window, B is "minimized" in the dock (as a reference).
This is what is happening :
When, while in A, I save as pdf (via the Print window of the Mac), the Save As window adopts the name of file B ! See image.
The contents of the pdf are correct (A), but its name becomes B unless I notice the error and make the correction !
This is dangerous when file names of A and B are almost similar or too long : if the difference between file names is at the end of the file name ("version 1"), the error can go unnoticed very easily.
Also, as file B is minimized in the dock, one only sees window A on the monitor, and one can easily forget that there is another open file (B).
Anyway, long or short, the file name proposed when saving the pdf is wrong.
I assume some of you have noticed the problem. Mac issue ?

This sounds vaguely similar to the dreaded "file overwrite bug", where the contents of the file on view are overwritten by the contents of the file in the dock. This is a rare occurrence, but has happened to me a few times, years ago. Mac only, apparently.

The problem I describe is happening now, in the latest version (25.5, Mac), and systematically when 2 files are open.

Can’t say it’s ever happened to me. OTOH, I rarely have two files open simultaneously.

The problem is specific to having one Finale file fully open and another minimized in the dock. I do not make a habit of doing this, but when I tried by way of experiment I got the behaviour reported. Having two Finale files fully open at the same time seems safe enough, if neither is minimized.MikeHalloran wrote:… … OTOH, I rarely have two files open simultaneously.

That's correct, the problem only occurs if there is a minimized file in the dock.David Ward wrote:The problem is specific to having one Finale file fully open and another minimized in the dock. I'd recommend not Minimizing any window in MacOS. There are few, if any, workflow benefits, and there are a variety of other methods of managing windows without the danger of forgetting about the ones you've minimized.
