Finale has a couple of inconvenient defaults. I'm wondering if there is a way to permanently disable them.
1) A time signatures of 2/2 is replaced with the cut time symbol. I can see this being the default because a lot of people use the symbol, but I'd rather choose that abbreviation when I need it.
2) A time signature change after 2/2 seems to be automatically hidden. This is weird to me. Maybe in some cases, you would want to hide it, but it shouldn't be the default. Every time I change the time signature after 2/2, I have to go to 'more options' and uncheck 'use different time signature for display'
change time sig defaults

This is a document specific setting, not a program specific setting.rjawad1 wrote:… A time signatures of 2/2 is replaced with the cut time symbol. I can see this being the default because a lot of people use the symbol, but I'd rather choose that abbreviation when I need it …
Which means that you can have different 2/2 settings in different documents.
To change the default 2/2 setting in a document, go to
Document menu > Document Options > Time Signatures
In the top pane - Abbreviate - you can de-select Cut Time.
