Hi,
Is there something I could do to prevent the slow scrolling thru the page I'm experiencing in the file I'm working ?
I'm working with lyrics in a very big file…..Update layout is off / automatic spacing is off.
Many thanks in advance

You could upgrade. If I recall correctly, I had that problem with both 2012 and 2014, but I don’t remember experiencing it with F25.
In the meantime, restarting may fix it for a while.

I seem to recall in past discussions on the old Make Music forum that turning off "Smart Hyphens" in the Lyric Options could result in better performance. You might try that. In fact, I'd go one step further and turn off "Smart Word Extensions" too. Once the bulk of the work is done, turn them back on and run the Utility menu command "Update Smart Word Extensions and Hyphens". Seems OK to me but maybe someone else could comment further.
That being said, I'm afraid if the file is big and has lots of lyrics there may be no way to improve its performance.

I would also turn Automatic Update Layout back on. Unless you're very careful to do it manually all the time, you're asking for trouble.
FWIW, while I don't remember specific problems with slow scrolling in F2012, I find v. 25 to be fast and responsive (within the confines of the usual bugginess).

Thanks, but I don't see any difference, I have the spinning beach ball each time I edit or input lyrics…..N Grossingink wrote:I seem to recall in past discussions on the old Make Music forum that turning off "Smart Hyphens" in the Lyric Options could result in better performance. Should I divide the file in different files ?
There are many operas done in finale, how the hell they managed to work like this ???

In 2015/16 I worked on an opera as 12 separate Finale files, combined into one PDF. I have been able to make edits, cuts and revisions in Finale 25.5 with reasonable fluency, but routinely relaunch Finale at each work break.Arturo wrote:… … … Should I divide the file in different files ?

Thanks
Relaunching Finale should be enough, although restarting the computer regularly can't hurt.
