A slightly unusual query, this one.

I am looking to an paste the music from one 'excerpt' sheet into another comprehensive sheet, however the notes on the source sheet are transcribed at half the value they ought to be, i.e. 16th notes become 8th notes, 8th note become quarter notes and so on. For every one bar in the source there will be two in the destination.

Whilst I can copy notate and adjust this it will take time and I was curious as to whether there is a shortcut around this issue, maybe by playing with the metre?

I'd be interested if anyone had any ideas.

Many thanks in advance.

Utilities/Change/Note Durations. Choose 200%.

That's great, thank you.

Having done that, is there an easy way of pasting every one measure into two, as I now have a measure too many notes in each one.

Thanks,

Andy

Me too. I added extra measures, but still 2 measures of entries are all in one measure all through the file.
It would be great to learn how to do this, it would save me personally LOTS of time on one particular piece!

ChangeNoteDurations.jpg
Warning:
Are there any rest measures (= empty measures) in the score?
Before you run the utility Change Note Durations, make sure that all empty measures are filled with real rests.

When you are done, you can clear the real rests from the empty measures (and thus make it possible to create multimeasure rests in the linked parts).

I haven't been able to get this to work. When doing it a bar at a time, with rebar and tuplets checked, it changes the notation later in the piece.
When I select all, it comes out in a bizarre fashion, almost like if Check for Extra Notes wasn't checked and notes and rests get displaced.

Sounds strange.
What happens if you just Rebar the entire piece (without doing anything else; not doubling values or anything else)?
Utilities menu > Rebar > Rebar Music

Also, check the settings in Rebar Options.
Utilities menu > Rebar > Rebar Options…

Did you fill all empty measures with real rests before you began?

Hi, Just going back to this topic following my post of a few years ago. I'm attempting to do this again, since having completed the piece I realise i've transcribed it in double time. Is there a way of doing it that:

a. carries through the pick-up bar as well?
b. moves the associated chords with each measure as well?
c. Copies each layer in one hit?

Thanks,
Andy

Andy,

We need more info from you:

There are two types of pickup measure.
Which type is it?

(1. created via the Time Signature Tool, e. g. 1/8, displaying as 6/8;
2. created via Document menu > Pickup Measure… = a full measure beginning with invisible “placeholders”)

This question is easier to answer if you specify the change:
from what time signature to what time signature? (e. g. from 2/4 to 2/2)

The original problem was about doubling rhythmical values.

This new problem (= a copying problem) sounds like a completely different problem.
What do you need to copy?
Copy from where to where?
