In the attached piece, I have the page numbers set to be .55" from the left and right edges of the page and .4" below the top of the page. The page margins are set for .35" for top and bottom and .55" for left and right. These settings are the same as I use for all of my pieces now.

The page numbers should be just within the margins. But they are showing up just above the top margin line and outside the left and right margins. I keep checking, and the settings look exactly the same as in other pieces. I am baffled.

Can someone see whatever I am missing about this?

Thanks,

Mark

I can't see anything wrong, but perhaps you can set them relative to the page margins instead of the edge of the page. Perhaps it's caused by page scaling.

This doesn't happen on any of my other pieces, and they are all set the same way. I always set them to be measured from the page edge, because then it's always consistent, and the percentage reduction doesn't normally place them differently. But this time it's different. I wish I understood why.

Maybe we need to see another document to compare. This document has Resize Page to 75%. When I set it to 100%, then the page numbers look more like you are describing.

Got it. You're right. I just compared it to another string quartet score, also reduced to 75%, and the page numbers were just as in the one I attached. For some reason, it didn't bother me at the time! Now it does, so I will adjust the page number placement.

Thanks Motet and Zuill!

Multiplying the offsets by 4/3 should exactly cancel the effect of 75% scaling.

This is why I keep Page Scaling to 100%, so that page numbers, headers, margins are all specified correctly. Then I scale the Staff Height to the size I want.
