I want to include chord symbols on two staves of a document but display fretboards on only one of those staves.
I.E. Staff 1: Chord symbols only; Staff 2: no chords or fretboards; Staff 3: Chords and fretboards.

If I try editing either the entire score or the just the part where I do not want fretboards, I can either eliminate all fretboards or show both of them along with chords.

I can't find any help in the User Manual. Is there a work-around for this?

Take a look at Utilities > Change > Chords. Your options for what to show are there.

One more idea :
In the staff attributes of the destination staff, under "Items to display", you can uncheck "Fretboards".
