When using the playback feature of Finale I am able to adjust the volume for all notes - but is it possible to adjust the volume of just one note - or notes on a different layer?

This can be done with the MIDI Tool.

Notes in different layers : use another midi channel, and change the volume in the Score Manager for each layer.

Or add dynamics and hide them. Or copy dynamics and change the volume setting--I do this often for balance in playback so that the score appears OK for presentation.
