I have gotten the Fingersnap staff just the way I want it, except for the left barline in the systems where the staff isn't hidden. Any suggestions how to make it go away? The only thing I can think of is to treat all of the "snap" sections as graphics, rather than a staff.

Playback is not an issue.

We might need to see a sample file to test. I can't seem to duplicate the result you are getting, probably because I am not using the same method.

Mike,

To get rid of the barlines in the “hidden” top staff, do not hide the barlines in the Staff Attributes.

Instead, move the barlines vertically down into the staff below.
To do so, go to the ScoreManager’s chiclet Instrument List, and use the pop up menu Staff:
Staff > Other…
You end in the dialog box Staff Setup.

Recalling past situations, another approach is to not have Left Barlines (as selected in Document Options). Then, add a second group with the bracket on the far right of the choices. Make the Horizontal position 0. This group only includes the lower staves. Don't include the staff for the snaps. I assume that is the top staff. But, not knowing, maybe we do need to see a file.

I did this with the Staff Appearance = Other in the staff style. setting top of barline = -(about half of system height), bottom of barline = top of barline + 96EVPUS), e.g. top = -576e, bottom = -480e. This makes the barlines invisible and moves top staff's left barline down a long way that should survive custom staff spacing. This could be done instead of a staff style per Peter in the Score Manager.

Thanks, all. I will work on it, as soon as my back lets me get back to the computer.

Here's what it looks like using the Group line method.

That has the advantage of having bar lines in the snap part of you want.

Hope your back is better soon, Mike!
