Has anyone tried the latest High Sierra up-date with Finale yet?

It's apparently more than 2 GB, but with luck doesn't include anything that will have an adverse effect on Finale. I think it was the 10.5.8 up-date and Finale 2007 that caused major authorization problems for me and quite a few others, so I remain a little wary of these things.

Funny how that one problem, 11 years and 45 system updates ago, still gives you pause for thought!

I've been running Finale 25.5 on 10.13.5 for some time, without incident. Finale is a much more stable Mac app than it used to be.

I'm running it with no problems. Granted, my needs are much simpler than yours, but I wouldn't hesitate to update.

Well, I've up-dated to 10.13.5 and Finale does seem to be working exactly as before.

I became a bit worried when I heard a thunderstorm rumbling away about a dozen miles from here, in case there was a power cut or power surges in the middle of the up-date, but none of that happened. (I do have anti-surge, UPS &c, but even so…)

Nothing to do with Finale but...

If your system uses 3rd party video except eGPU our Thundebolt 3, do not update to OS 10.13.4 or 10.13.5. This includes those apps that turn iPads into monitors, eGPU over Thunderbolt 1 & 2 and USB monitors that use Display Lnk Drivers. 10/13/3 is fine.

Some eGPU monitor card suppliers are working on new drivers as is DisplayLink. The iPad app guys seem to think that Apple will “fix” this. The Apple engineers I spoke to in Austin this week seem to believe that Apple did this on purpose—the eGPU part, at least. Since Apple has never supported USB nor iPad monitors, fixing that is unlikely to be a priority.

I experienced this on my 2010 iMac since the only way to have two external monitors is DisplayLink. In the process, I discovered APFS Snapshots

I remember major compatibility issues in the transitions between 10.2 to 10.3, then to 10.4 and 10.5 ... all paid upgrades as were 10.6 and 10.7. Hard to believe that we put up with that nonsense but we did.

BIAS PEAK gave me the most grief with $700 upgrades every step till I said, Enough! Apple/ClarisWorks stopped working, Microsoft, Adobe and other problems...

I do not recall an authorization problem with Finale 2007 at all. Not saying it didn’t happen only that I have no memory of it.
