Could someone help, please?

See picture: In my OpenOffice "Writer" I create a text. When I copy & paste it into the Expression Designer it does not display as it should. What do I have to type into the Expression Designer box?

I use a Mac! I created the text in OpenOffice by copying the characters from "Broadway Copyist Text" as displayed in the Font Collection.

Greetings,

Jock

I have occasionally noticed the same thing, when copying. Some of the combination strokes don't always copy. How are you entering the characters? Are you using PopChars or something similar?

Why not enter them directly into the Expression Designer, rather than OpenOffice? That seems to work better, cutting out the middle step.

To enter the text symbols directly, select the Broadway Copyist Text font:

⌥-m (right parentheses)
⌥⇧-8 (long underbar)
⇧-s (S)
⇧-i (I)
⇧-m (M)
. (period)

Thanks - that helped!

One more question - where can I find a list of all these option-m, option-whatevers? Is it in Finale or is it a Mac feature? Never had to use it before...

You can find them in your user manual, but I use PopChars, which makes it much easier (for me, at least.)

Also, you can use Finale’s dialog box Symbol Selection.

Not as handy as the third party utility PopChar, but you already have the Symbol Selection:
Text menu > Inserts > Symbol…
