Working on a banjo tablature project for a book. Using Finale 2014 (Windows) I can't find a way of changing the staff height without also making the tab numbers and stems proportionately bigger. The problem is legibility, and the fact that stacked numbers bleed into each other. I seem to recall that this could be done in earlier versions of finale (and I still have version 2007 on the computer). Any advice would be much appreciated!!

Just a guess-

Go to Document Options > Fonts > Notation > Tablature. Change the font size to "Fixed". As you resize the staff, the numbers should stay the same size. You might have to play around to find an appropriate point size.

In the Score Manager, choose "Other" on the Staff pull-down. You can set "Line Spacing" there without affecting anything else.'

This has its drawbacks, as you can see. You could instead take the above advice with font size of numbers, and there's also a setting for stem length.

Maybe we need to know how the Staff Height is being changed. I use the Resize Tool instead and change the percentage of the Staff and everything is proportional. Or, if it is a single staff project, resize the System instead. Sometimes that works better. Experiment.

I think the point is he doesn't want things resized proportionately.

In this example, I resized the TAB staff to 150%, and resized the notes (in this case, the numbers) to 75%. The numbers are slightly low on the lines, but I'm sure one of you guys can figure that out!

kenperlman,

We need more info from you.
I suggest that you attach a (small) Finale sample document here, so that we can examine your TAB staff.
