When I print to postscript my sixteenth note rests convert into sharp symbols. Any thoughts?

I'm using Petrucci music font (in this case), Mac OS High Sierra, Finale 25.5

If I make a ps file using the Macintosh print dialog (save as ps), the resulting file displays correctly. How are you making/opening the ps files? If you make a pdf, does that display correctly?

I would do 2 things - use the Fontbook app to check for duplicates of Petrucci and resolve those. If that doesn't work, go to the Make Music website, downloads section, download and install the Finale Font Pack for Macintosh. That way, you'll have the latest version of Petrucci in case yours is older. Be sure to restart the computer after the font installation.

I am using the save as PS in mac print dialog. I'm opening the ps file in Illustrator CS3 - this appears to be the issue.

I updated the fontpack just in case - although I'm fairly certain that was already up to date.

Characters render as PS correctly in preview app.

This is a bummer - can't really afford nor want to move to Adobe's new CS subscription model.

Any further thoughts appreciated!

mainterm,

I suppose that you have already tried the two things N Grossingink suggested, right?

Two other things to try:

1) You tell that the characters “render as PS correctly in Preview app”.
Then I suppose that you could use Preview to convert the PS file to a PDF file.
Often you can just as well use a PDF file - instead of a PS file.

2) You can use Finale’s Graphics Tool to export your Finale document as a PDF file - or as an EPS file.
