I want to create a script that would make a small trill notes.

I want:
Layer 3, noteheads to be reduced, stem removed, noteheads only black, and than horizontally moved.
It worked earlier, but now in version 25 I have trouble. Anyone understanding where I am making mistake?
(Solution preferably for Windows version)

Code: Select all

Layer 3
Menu item "Show Active Layer Only"
Menu item "Note Size…"
Type 70
Press OK
Menu item "Noteheads…"
radio "Filled (quarter note)" near "Change To"
Press OK
Menu item "Custom Stem"
Menu item "Select All"
Hit Enter 2
Menu item "Notehead Position"
Menu item "Select All"
Hit Enter
Type "60" near "Horisontal *"
Hit Enter
Menu item "Show Active Layer Only"

I wonder if it might be the spelling of <horisontal>?

In American English, it would be <horizontal>

Is it done with an s in British English? Would finalescript recognize (recognise) it?

Horizontal is always spelt with a z in the UK too.

Getting decidedly OT, although spell checks in their tautologically labelled ‘British English’ specify ‘-ise’ endings rather than ‘-ize’ ones, for many British people of my generation this is over-simple. Our classical education taught us to prefer ‘-ize’ when we can reasonably derive the ending from Latin ‘-izare’ and to favour ‘-ise’ only when it is more sensible to derive it from the French ending ‘-iser’ (eg when the root word is directly derived from French).

The terms I have taken from Finale's menus, so it would work.
Regardless of the language, it works partially. I cannot get completely satisfying...

I have managed to achieve the goal actually by using fantastic JW Change. I made sequence of steps to create a trill note. Thanks Jari.

Glad that you made it work. General advice: Troubleshooting is a big part of Finale Scripting, and I find it much easier to find glitches when I run the script with the Script Editor open.

That's probably the best way to go. Also check out the AHK scripting routines that Jari has published (win only) if you want to make shortcuts for it.

Also, with the script editor open you can run scripts on single parts.
