Friends,
What is the best way to enter Messiaen beats in Finale?
So that they are positioned over exact notes/rests, for all instruments, but limited in parts (perhaps as Staff Set).
What font is available on Mac/Win?

Could you post an example of "Messiaen beats"? I found nothing doing a Google search, and nothing in Gould.

Go to the Bravura font character list, page 117, conductor symbols:
http://www.smufl.org/files/smufl-0.6.pdf

You could also design your own with the Shape Designer as Shape Expressions. Yes, assign them to a category that utilizes Staff Lists and set the positioning to align horizontally with the notehead and vertically with the above staff baseline. Should be easy to create and utilize these.

Is that Couleurs de la cité céleste? The biggest tam-tam I've ever seen was used for the coup formidable! in that, it completely hid the (standing) player.

Thank you. A part of the question remains: what is the best way to enter them into the score, in order to be visible in all parts with the exact same placement in measure, and also to be visible only in the middle of the score?
As Expressions, with staff set?

Actually, I was searching "messiaen beats" and found that picture that I took a screenshot. Now when I checked where I downloaded from, it was on the old MM forum, and it was YOUR POST!

How about creating a dedicated staff for the conductor symbols? A stave that contains and displays nothing else but those symbols, and where those symbols are attached to specific beats. This staff could then be included in every instrumental part where needed.

Yes, I have been also thinking about that.

Ok, I have found solution: I will use "tempo alterations" category to attach symbols to the beats. It seems to work well.

Also, I have abandoned Times and have completely changed all my textual fonts to FreeSerif. It is amazing font. There are several thousands of symbols. Even musical symbols are available. There I could find П ∆ which I will use.

FreeSerif is amazing font. You can create, as an example, curved brackets - both horizontal and vertical of any size, byzantine notation, math symbols, ligatures, and so on. The ultimate font to use, definitely!

It is from GNU free font project: https://www.gnu.org/software/freefont/
