Friends,
How to display in an orchestra score the repeating symbols ||: :|| only for one instrument, not others?
Is there anything like independent barlines?

You can add the repeats to all the instruments, and hide it in all the other instruments.OCTO wrote:… How to display in an orchestra score the repeating symbols ||: :|| only for one instrument, not others? …
Yes, indeed, and there are several threads about barlines here in the forum.OCTO wrote:… Is there anything like independent barlines?
But perhaps you should explain a little more.
The better we understand, the better we can help.
What do you mean by your words “independent barlines”?
- different barline styles in the same measure, but in different staves?
- staggered barlines? (= different simultaneous time signatures)
Mac OS X 12.6.9 (Monterey), Finale user since 1996
One instrument (Piano) in the orchestra plays regularly, using repeat-bars and dashed barlines.
The rest of the orchestra has rest or held tones. I want to hide all barlines and repeats for all except the Piano.
The problem is the page break and how to hide repeat-symbols when they start at the first measure in a system.

Take a look at the attached Finale document.OCTO wrote:One instrument (Piano) in the orchestra plays regularly, using repeat-bars and dashed barlines.

Is this what you mean?

How did you make separate repetitions?
-10%, there is a problem when there is a system break precisely before repetition-barline.

I did not.OCTO wrote:… How did you make separate repetitions? …
The repeats are in all the staves.
I just used a custom staff style to, not display Barlines and Repeat Bars.
Try this:
1) Open my attached document.
2) Staff Tool.
3) Staff menu > Show Staff Styles (select this item)
4) Staff menu > Show Staff Style Names (select this item)
And the problem is?OCTO wrote:… there is a problem when there is a system break precisely before repetition-barline …
I do not see the problem.
As Far As I Can Tell, this solution does “hide all barlines and repeats for all except the Piano”.
What am I missing?
If I misunderstand you, then I apologize.

Thanks for the first explanation, indeed works, I just forgotten it all after 2 years being off from Finale.Peter Thomsen wrote:I did not.OCTO wrote:… How did you make separate repetitions? …

About the second, there is I get confused: in my screenshot I need to have the end of measure 1 full barline for all instruments, and in the second measure (the next system) as it is displayed.
So to say, the problem is that if I make a system break the barlines disappear. Simply said I need to combine at the first repetition solid barline for all, and repeat symbol for one instrument.
If I am explaining it correctly.

Then, in the measure before the first Repeat Bar, do not use a staff style to hide the barline.OCTO wrote:… I need to combine at the first repetition solid barline for all, and repeat symbol for one instrument.

See the attached Finale document.

Repeat Bars un-checked!
Wonderful, thank you.
