Mac users, you better read the blog (link above, thanks, miker).
Briefly said : the only version of Finale which will be compatible with Mojave (MacOs 10.14, to be released on Sept. 24) is Finale 26.
Later, an update of 25 will follow.
Earlier versions of Finale are incompatible.

Also, it might be wise to make a bootable clone of your present hard drive, to be used if unforseen difficulties arise down the road and you'd give anything to have your old system back. Apple won't let you download and install a previous system. I use Carbon Copy Cloner and an inexpensive USB drive.

So we have to wait three months before installing the new OS (assuming F26 is released in December) and even longer if we need to keep using F25. The beta versions of Mojave have been available for a long time; what has MM been doing?

Indeed, what?

You Mac users know that Finale 25 lost the print box when MS did the last update to Win 10. Perhaps it is fixed in Finale 26, too.

Why don't you make a support ticket and ask them if this is a scheduled fix for Finale 26? They should know by now. As a matter of fact, maybe most committed users should do the same regarding their own favorite bugs. I don't give a good goddamn if the poor support people are not directly in the development loop. If you hold their feet to the fire a bit, it might work its way up. And once v26 is released, download the demo and give it a test run. If it doesn't meet your expectations, vote with your pocketbook–don't upgrade.

As of today, the latest news is that all is well, and F25 will, in fact, work with Mac Mojave.

Did that. Also contacted MS. Actually MS was more concerned and helpful than MM. Their tech spent, easily 30+min trying to get it to work for me.
My guess Finale 26 doesn't work with Win 10 either and the effort is getting 26 to work correctly. I doubt the printing routines for 25 and 26 are much different. But I can't see releasing a new version that doesn't print without issues. So, 26 gets the oil and 25 squeaks.

Always good to know ‘in case’ (eg if one had to replace computer with a new one at short notice).

BTW how should one pronounce ‘Mojave’? What and where is it?

All their names lately have been California locations. Mojave is a desert. Mo-HAH-vee is the Wikipedia pronunciation. Wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mojave_Desert

Death Valley is located in the Mojave Desert. One of my favorite spots. I'd visit it more often if I could. The lowest elevation (below sea level) is there (-282 feet at Badwater). From there, you can see the highest mountain in the continental US, which is Mount Whitney. Of course, that is in the Sierra Mountains. High Sierra.

P.S.: I forgot to mention that the town of Boron is in the Mojave Desert. It is home to the large Borax mine (open pit). My uncle worked for the Borax company for many years. The famous 20 mule team pictured on the Borax soap box was the original method of transporting the raw material, when it was originally mined in Death Valley, and then at the Boron location I've seen the 20 mule team in person at the Boron Days Parade a few years back. Quite a sight. Now they use huge machines with 12' tires to pull the ore out of the pit.

Has anyone updated to Mojave yet and tried Finale 25.5 with it? I'm not yet brave enough.

I'm going to be curious to know just how incompatible pre-25 versions of Finale are. Can they be opened at all? If so, what are the limitations?

Bummer.

After all this foofoorah about using Mojave with Finale, I just found out that I can't use Mojave on my late 2011 iMac.

What to do, what to do?

Good news.

I updated one of my laptops on which I don't regularly use Finale. I launched it and didn't find any problems with my regular workflow. I'm happy MM actually went to the trouble to test it and report results. Good on them!

Gogreen or Encephalon,

If you have any versions older than 25 would you try to open them and report what happens?

I've also just did a quick arrangement from start to finish on Mojave with Finale 25. I didn't notice any bugs whatsoever. Can't comment on any pervious version.

I also have Finale 2014.5 installed, and it opened one of my pieces OK. I didn't try anything else with it, though.

Thanks for that news, Gogreen.

I have recently been updating hundreds of old files to MUSX format and quite a few of them had font problems in MUSX so I needed to open an old version, usually 2012, to copy lyrics or text boxes and paste them in to 25.

Your report gives me hope that at least that may still be possible with the new OS.

Brand new iMac 27 inch! Woo hoo!

Mojave installed.

F25 running fine. Also NP and SW 2012. (Although I had to load Java.)

Anything earlier won't load; Unhandled Exception Caught

When Migration Assistant installed from my Time Machine backup, it didn't even bring over the 2014.5 version.

I thought my old 2011 iMac had a pretty decent picture. But this new 5K kicks butt!

Congratulations, Mike! You deserve it!!
Perhaps the issue with 2014.5 is that you have to have had it already installed. But do you really need it?
