Perhaps an easy question:
Is it possible to add a staff to a project? Like when you have written a piano piece and want to add a flute?

An easy way is:
Select the Staff Tool
Select Add Staff (with wizard)
The staff will appear on the bottom. In scroll view, drag the staff to the desired location in the score, then select "Respace Staves."

When you select one staff before adding a new staff, you will get the new staff above the selected one.

What do you do then to make it get that the new staffs are supposed to be a new instrument? The sounds will be the same chosen for the first instrument, and if you change, ALL staffs will change.

Assuming it's same with Mac or Windows(I own Mac).
First go to the "Window" in the menu bar, choose "Instrument List." Then at the "instrument" column, select "new instrument" for the instrument you just added. Then assign a new channel for the instrument. Then select the patch.
Hope it helps.

...and if you don't want the new staff to appear in the systems where it is not active, go to Page Layout and use Optimization to remove it temporarily.

I have been searching for this legendary "STAFF TOOL" for several hours now and am appalled that nobody on the entire internet seems to let anyone know exactly where it is. I use finale songwriter and there is no such thing as a staff tool. Somebody help me add intruments or I am going to go crazy. I have a tendency to add instruments during my composing and if this program does not have this option then I am at my wit's end finding a half-baked music program. Thank you.

In Finale (I don't know Songwriter), the staff tool is the tool of which the icon is a treble clef.

Ah, no luck. There is no tool that is treble clef. I have made sure that all toolbars are visible. There is only the clef tool, and that is a bass clef.

According to MakeMusic's comparison chart of all their products, you can have up to 8 staves in Songwriter.
Isn't there a "wizzard" somewhere in the menus which allows you to add staves ?

There is a wizard, but you can only use it when you start the program. IN other words, you can't add tracks after you've already started. Or so it seems. I hope this isn't so.

I am afraid that I am not familiar with Songwriter. I visited the website and there is a good chance that it indeed does not have the staff tool.
I am sorry I couldn't be much help. All I can do is wishing you good luck.
Can anybody else help him?
