I've had to insert a few bars into the middle of a document that has various repeated sections, the result of which is that the Da Capo al Fine indication at the end of the movement no longer goes back to the correct bar, but begins a few bars later. I keep inserting the correct bar number in the Text Repeat Assignment pane, and the Auto-Update Target box is ticked, but the Da capo does not start where it should.
Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you.

Da Capo means go back to the beginning, which is bar 1. Which bar number is in the slot?

Yes, I know (I'm Italian) :)
The number in the slot is 4:1 since this is the fourth movment of a work. But it always changes back to 4:6.

Are there pickup measures which are included in the counts?

My first guess is that you should try this:

Preferences > View > Measure Numbers:

You have selected “Display Defined Measure Numbers”, right?
Instead, select “Display Actual Measure Numbers”.

The culprit could be a bug that shows, when some measures, in the Measure Attributes have the “Include in Measure Numbering” option de-selected.
You can avoid the bug completely by selecting “Display Actual Measure Numbers”.

After you have selected “Display Actual Measure Numbers”, to find out a measure’s Actual Measure Number, switch to the Measure Tool, and double-click the measure.

I'm sorry. I was just trying to clarify the situation to get more information. Now, knowing that you are pointing to a first measure in a different region, enough information was given to see the bigger picture.

Anyway, what Peter suggested is what worked for you. I wish MakeMusic would fix this bug. We've reported it many times over the years. One would think it wouldn't be too hard to fix, but may not yet be repaired in the upcoming v26 release.
