Well it is a dud for me. I d/l the demo because I wanted to see if MM fixed the Win 10 printing problem. Of course they did not, why am I not surprised. I had it on my machine for two days and it crashed three times. Finale 25.5 has been working perfectly ever since I installed it. No crashes ever.

I asked MM, by email, and the tech I got said he never heard of a printing problem with Win 10. How can you release a new version and not have it work with WIn 10?

Besides that Finale 26 over wrote the Finale 25 icon. I was thinking the two could co-exist but I had to go back and get redo Finale 25.5. I have uninstalled 26. I don't see any good reason to spend $150 bucks on a still broken program.

However, I give Finale a MAJOR FAIL for not putting this in BIG, BOLD LETTERS when people download the new version.

They created this problem when they released Finale 25. I know that we would have this problem with the next release. It doesn't surp[rise me. They didn't have v25 in a folder called Finale 25, like all the old versions. That would have made things much easier. Instead, they called the folder Finale, which led to a convoluted workaround with the new install (v26). Workarounds seem to be the MO with Finale, so that's not surprising either.

It didn't delete 25.5. It just deleted all the icons and associations with it.

Did MakeMusic confirm that all users with Windows 10 and Finale 25 have the print dialogue issue?

The MM guy I just talked to said he was unaware of any problem with Win 10 and Finale. I spent a week long back and forth with tech the first time after the Win 10 update came out and the printing issue developed. MMhas a Zendesk on it https://makemusic.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/ ... ox-Windows

But this MM guy knew nothing about it.

As you can see from my jpg, it doesn't matter what printer is set to default. The print box will be empty.

I don't use Windows 10 at the present. I am sticking to Windows 7 as long as I can. However, if everyone who uses Windows 10 has this problem, that is serious. I remember reading your thread about the issue earlier. I can't recall if any other Windows 10 users had this problem. If not, then the issue might be unique to your setup. In that event, then users who are fine on Windows 10 and v25 with the printer dialogue box should be fine, I suppose, with v26. It would be nice if there would be some Win 10 users to report here for feedback on this issue with 25 and now 26.

I never had any kind of printing problem in Finale 25 and I haven't had any printing problems in Finale 26 on Windows 10. Maybe it's just a problem on certain systems.

That's encouraging. Maybe the transition to Win 10 won't be too bad.

+1 for no problems printing with Fin25/26 on Win10.

I am glad some are free from the issues but MM has to be aware that Win 10, latest update. Otherwise they would not have a zendesk article on it and describing how to work around it.

I just got a email reply from another MM tech. He didn't know there was any problems either so I sent him MM zendesk link so he can educate himself, too. I can not believe this is how MM operates. Doesn't anybody know what's going on out there?

I simply asked if they fixed the problem in 26 and here we go. MM wants all the same stuff they wanted last time sysinfo, DxDiag.txt and screenshots, a new install, etc. Same old, same old, been there done that.

Hey Ernest, it looks this is still a bug in Finale and we are working on it. In the meantime, I'd recommend using the workaround you mentioned you already knew!

Well Alex S. I just bought the Finale 26 upgrade. I don’t know if I have brain one or not for doing so but I hope you guys get it worked out soon. It is a royal pain as it must be done every time you run Finale. I can’t leave Finale open as it hogs the sound card and won’t let any other program use it.

Why did I go ahead an upgrade to another already bugged version? Because of this sentence by a Finale 26 reviewer.

Look at it this way; in terms of bugs, you’ll get some of the same familiar ones you had in v25, but you are no worse off. (there is a list of issues which were addressed included in the Finale 26 release notes).
