I want to add into the footer the current filename (such as Section A v2), and I want it to be automatised, so to speak, using the filename as the "insert". That is important for me when new revisions are printed, so that it is always clear what version is in use.
However, I don't want to have .musx in the footer. How to prevent that?
Here: Finale 25 on Windows.
remove .musx

Sounds like you should hide the file extension for that particular file. I did a Google search and there are many sites that detail the procedure—search [Hide File Extension Windows].

Worth a try, but it's not clear to me that if the file extension is merely hidden from Windows Explorer it won't appear in the Finale insert anyway. If not, maybe "File Date" could serve instead.
