I was hoping that the advertised new chord recognition would be great in v26.

It wasn't.

Anyone know how to get chord collision to work on created chords?

Without seeing an entire page of music, or a one page Finale file, it's hard to see what's going on. It looks to me like you have too many measures on the system you picture. Fewer measures will loosen up the layout and prevent things from colliding. The repeated rhythm is not correctly notated—it should be as below. That alone will loosen up room for the chords to display clearer.

I was wondering the same. Why are you creating basic chords?

The melody doesn't fit the chords.
G#m7 with e in the melody?
A#m7 ( Bbm7) with g in the melody?
Lennie Tristano a big influence...?

I'm guessing that's because we can't see the key signature in the image. Odd that the OP had to add "m" and "m7" chord suffixes though...

Good point about the key sig,
tho if there's an Eb, the chord should be Abm7, not G#m7.
Oh well, no Biggie...
