Hi everyone,

I've got a simple question about page layout (or is it system layout, I'm not sure). I've attached a screenshot of three pages I have from my current score. I can't remember how to make it so that all of the bottom margins lineup as the same. I'm pretty sure it's not hard, but I can't for the life of me remember how it is done! I want to make everything line up like the first page in the picture.

This part of Finale is my least knowledgeable (and hence, my least favourite). In fact, I get nervous when I think of page layout at the end of my editing! :P

Any help is appreciated, as always.
Thanks,
Andrew

PS. Is there anyway to work around the 250kB file size upload for pictures? I find that the screenshot is tiny and I'm not sure if it is legible...?

There are several settings at play in this regard. First off, it appears not all systems have the same number of staves. That enters into it. Also, without seeing the file, it's hard to know if the page margins and system margins are the same for each page. So, there isn't a one-size-fits-all answer.

Hi Zuill,

I'm happy to post the file, as I'm working to a tight deadline, and I can't seem to figure it out. My file is 1.1MB in size. Is there a way that I can post it here?

Thanks,
Andrew

Your screen shot is a .png graphic.
You can get a smaller file size with the .jpg file format.

Open your screen shot in a graphics editor (e. g. Preview), and export the screen shot as a .jpg graphic.

As a test I opened your .png screen shot in Preview, and exported it as a .jpg graphic.
Even at full size (quality = 100 %) the .jpg file size was only 175 KB.

I'm sorry Peter, I wasn't clear. I mean I'm happy to post the Finale file, which is 1.1MB...

Since we only need to figure out the spacing issue to get the systems and pages looking even, duplicate the file and delete all the notes. That might make the file smaller.

To reduce the file size you can also delete the items in selection windows, such as Articulation Selection, Expression Selection, Shape Selection, &c.

Hi Peter and Zuill,

I deleted all of the notes, however it's still 440 KB. Perhaps I can put up a Dropbox link to the new blank file?

Cheers

Just as I thought.
Probably some libraries have been loaded into the document.

Go ahead, and clear the various selection dialogs such as e. g. Chord Suffix Selection, Articulation Selection, Expression Selection, Shape Selection.
