I've just started running into this editing problem working with banjo tablature., and I wonder if there is a setting that I have inadvertently clicked on that is causing this. Anyway, here's what's happening.
When I change the appearance of the piece in such a way that additional lines of staff are necessary (by decreasing the number of measures per line, or adding additional measures), the new lines of staff show up several inches down the page from the original lines, and I can't seem to find a way to make the new lines close up. So far the only way I have found to deal with this is copy the entire piece into a new document, and save this in place of the original file. But this is time consuming.
Anyone have a solution?

For starters, select the Page Layout tool and from the menu pick "Redefine Pages"—redefine all pages. That will probably fix the problem. If not, let us know.

kenperlman,
Are you an experienced Finale user?
I am not sure how detailed instructions you need.
When it creates new pages/systems, Finale uses the formatting settings in
Document menu > Page Format > Score…
Already existing systems/pages are not affected.
From your description it sounds like the settings in Page Format for Score are not as needed.
I suppose that you do know the settings you need (?)
Take a look at the settings, and correct them if they are wrong.
When you have corrected the settings, you will not see any change in the already existing systems/pages.
To update already existing systems/pages, use
Page Layout menu > Redefine Pages > …

It does not help to use redefine pages; it makes all the staff systems jump to a spacing of two or three inches apart.

Folks. Sorry, I had to put the project aside for a while. At your suggestion I'm attaching a file where the problem occurs. It's fine now, but if I want to add a measure, it shows up in the middle of a newly created second page. This problem suddenly cropped up on many files after after reducing the number of measures per line and manually increasing the spacing among staves - using the page Layout tool - from roughly .75" to about 1 inch. The publisher asked that page size be slightly larger than standard.

The reason your new measure is on the second page is because the new system that it is in is set with a very high top margin, so there's no room on the first page. It looks like you copied the settings for the first system (on the first page) for all systems. What you need to do is go into settings for the Score page setup and fix that number to match all the other systems.

P.S.: The attached is probably closer to what you want.

Yes, this does the trick!! Thanks!
The odd thing is that I have no recollection of ever changing these settings (and in fact had never specifically accessed the Score dialog box in the Document menu). The problem simply sprang up one day and persisted.
