Hi all,

Am I right not to capitalise the first letters of expressions such as "slap", "ord.", "gliss.", and not to use italics? I am just thinking about this while proofreading my latest draft.

Thoughts?

HP.

I think i found the explanation:
p.492 gould – use lower case, not bold, not italic (except for sim.).

edit: although elsewhere in the book gould uses italicised gliss., so i guess rules are there to be broken ;)

My understanding of it was that "technique" text was always roman, while "expressive" text was always italicized.
I definitely wouldn't capitalize the 1st letters of any techniques (Finale, for some reason, comes with pizz and arco expressions already capitalized. I always have to reset those.)

Hi Michel,
Thanks, yes, I am in agreement with you. I think what confused me was sometimes Gould shows gliss.,in italics, but when it needs to be pedal gliss. it is not italicised.
Cheers,
HP.
