I have a friend who's doing some arrangements in Sibelius. I already have charts done in Finale.

I'd like to send him a midi file of the chart but it's printing whole note chords wherever there's chords entered in measures in Finale.

What's the way to export midi but not print chord notes and just the written notation in the Finale staves?

I'm not sure I understand the whole problem. Maybe just delete the chords before rendering the MIDI file? If the purpose is to get a notation file in Sibelius, why not send an XML file instead.

Could you export an XML file from Finale, have your friend open it in Sibelius, and then export the MIDI from Sibelius?

I usually go from Digital Performer TO Finale. I've never had to go from Finale to anything else as Finale is usually my final step.

What I found interesting was when exporting my chart via MIDI and XML, when I opened it back up in Finale, the Drum stave was ALL whack.

I'm guessing the Drum Set stave within Finale is application specific?

At any rate, its a VERY short piece that I can probably just PDF print out and hand over to the horns arranger.

But, it's nice to know how to do this in the future.
