I am attempting to add fretboards to ONLY the guitar staff.

So, In my "Normal Notation" staff style, I deselected "show fretboards".

Then created a staff style for my guitar staff and included "show fretboards".

Problem is, now all my chords are very high above the staff.

I will click on a staff with the CHORD tool selected and move the second to last triangle down so that the chords are in the desired position.

When I then move to the Page View, the chords for the staves are still very high up. Why don't the chord baselines move with the adjustment in Scroll View?

Because the second to left triangle only moves the objects (chords, lyrics, whatever) in that single system. Use the extreme left triangle, and they will move throughout the score.

I suspect that if you use that triangle, even in scroll view, when you go to page view, they will all have moved.

I literally just read that on a Finale Blog page. My bad.

Apparently the second from left triangle will move them in scroll view and translate to page view.

Anyone know of a good way to create a "chord legend" fretboard at the top of the page?

A sort of "these chords used in this song" cheat sheet?

If you don't care about playback (and most of us don't, considering how poor the voicing is) you can just enter the chords on the top line, and drag them to where you want them. Another option would be to export them as a graphic from a scratch score, and paste them in where you want them.

There are fonts for chord symbols. The Seville font has many of the standard chord fretboards. Using the Text Tool, you can create a Text block and choose the Seville font. Press C and you get a C chord fretboard. Press shift-C and you get Cm chord fretboard. I am not sure about shortcuts for other chords. Or, you can use Insert Symbol and scroll through the characters to find the one you want. You'd have to create a separate Text Block for the chord names. I suppose you could experiment to find out the best setup for your needs.

Three ways to create chord fretboards for a legend. The Expression and Text Tool methods use the Seville font.
