Hello, hoping someone here might be able to help me.

I use Finale 25.3 on a Mac running OS 10.11

I scan a friend's arrangements of renaissance music using SmartScore, import it to Finale via .xml and the arrange them for different ensembles. Often he uses very slow time signatures like 2/1. When I want to change those to 2/2 I use "Change" "Durations" "50%" but nearly always the semibreves do not turn to minims but will have long lines running from them diagonally to the top right. (See attached screen-grab).

I can only correct this by erasing notes one by one and laboriously replacing each with a proper minim.

Is there some way to avoid this hassle? He isn't able to save his work as .xml

Many thanks for any help you can give me.

Regards, Chyebren

It appears to be an alternate stem for the minims. if you could attach the file, we could probably troubleshoot for you.

P.S.: I created the attached demo with the Custom Stem Tool. Look familiar?

One way to clear all the custom stems is to use the Edit tool to Clear Selected items. Choose the option to clear Stem and beam alterations.

I'd try two things:

√ Select All, then Edit > Clear Selected Items—check all Special Modifications checkboxes.
√ Make a clean, blank template for this instrumentation and copy the misbehaving file into it.

Hi All,

Thank you for for these suggestions.

I used "clear selected items" for stems as recommended by Zuill and N and it has worked an absolute treat.

You've saved me hours of individual amendments, thank you very much indeed.

Problem solved, you clever people!

Regards, Chyebren.
