Hello!
I am working on an edition of some 16th-century keyboard music and am trying to maintain certain elements of the original notation. I would really like to be able to have dotted note values go over barlines—e.g.
--> quarter note - barline - dot
instead of
--> quarter note + tie - barline - tied eighth note
Does anyone have a good workaround for this?
Thanks!

You can force Finale to allow more beats than should be allowed by deselecting the option to check for extra notes.

Thank you — I'll try that! Where can I change that setting? I didn't see it under Document Options…

Ingenious. I am going to try it with a staccato dot replacing the notehead.Peter S. wrote:you could also create stemless notes and make them so small that they look like a dot. And then use them on the correct place...
